My Entrepreneurship Story- Louis Diaz

Entrepreneurship Experience
My first real experience with entrepreneurs was my first job where my bosses, husband, and wife, started a machine shop, Alpine Tool, Inc., that they have to this day and over 20 years running. To this day, they are still running the show there. My father is actually one of their employees there as well. I still visit the shop when I am back home visiting. Working and being around this business sparked my interest on starting my own business and seeing all the work that it takes to be able to run one. It was rewarding to work for them and to see how it is to be on the inside and witness how everything runs for a small scale business.

Reason For Class
My reason and goal in this class are to be able to learn the mentality of the entrepreneur. Every entrepreneur had a driven mentality to be able to do what they've done and it is a mentality I would like to have myself. I am hoping with this class I will pick up tips and tricks on how to be able to do so.

  1. I love that you're interested in the mentality of an entrepreneur! I started my own business in January and WOW can I say it is the biggest emotional rollercoaster ever! A great read is "The Startup of You" by Reid Hoffman, the founder of LinkedIn. It's all about involving the spirit and mentality of entrepreneurism in every part of your life. I think you'd really enjoy it!

  2. It's great that you were introduced to the Entrepreneurial mindset at such a young age! I wish I could've said the same thing about myself for I went the more traditional route. I bet you gained so much from observing their business and the fact that it was so small and brand new can be seen as a huge positive because you could not only learn the pros, but the cons; not only what to do, but not what to do! As for the mentality of an entrepreneur, it's so awesome that you recognize the importance of it. It's a lot of training for the mind to understand that there will be failures, but it's those failures that will drive you and teach you. Good luck with all of your endeavors!
